Jaycee Dugard to Get $20M from California

The state of California will pay Jaycee Dugard $20 million to rectify the fact that parole officers didn’t notice she was being held in captivity for 18 years reports the Contra Costa Times this morning. Phillip Garrido, the man who held Dugard captive and fathered her two children, was incorrectly labeled as a “low-risk offender,” after serving time for rape in the 1970s.
